I know I was and that’s what led me to create a journal for myself!
For months I started tracking all the different aspects of my day – yes, even my hair pulling!
I would write it down in this journal I made and as I looked back over the weeks I could see some serious patterns I couldn’t ignore!
It was in these patterns that I was able to assess my situation and start taking control of my hair pulling triggers.
You can do the same thing!
I created this journal for you to track different aspects of your hair pulling health too.
In order to overcome Trichotillomania, you’ve got to figure out what’s triggering you!
Once you pinpoint your triggers you can start working towards reducing your hair pulling on your own.
Keeping a journal of your diet, sleep, feelings, people, places and daily events allows you to assess the situations where you pulled more or less.
Even WikiHow suggests that in order to stop hair pulling, you’ve got to start writing things down;
“Keep track of when you’re pulling your hair. Consider what kinds of situations cause you to resort to hair-pulling. Do you only do it when you’re depressed? Angry? Confused? Frustrated? Understanding what triggers your hair-pulling can help you find other, more positive ways of coping.”
It’s by knowing these different patterns that you can learn to avoid the circumstances that cause more hair pulling.
You can retrain yourself to cope in more positive ways and avoid the things that are triggering trichtoillomania.

As I was tracking my own hair pulling patterns, I was doing a lot of searching in scripture for God’s healing promises.
Each day I would write myself a special message about them to keep me encouraged.
When I decided to create a copy of this journal for others with trichotillomania, I included this portion of the journal too.

My name is Lesley and I’m the blogger behind this website.
I created this journal out of a sincere need for something to help me track my pulling patterns on a daily basis.
I am in bible college pursuing my associates degree in theology and this journal includes a faith-based devotional based on biblical healing principals.
I couldn’t find a therapy journal that used scripture to counteract negative thoughts that trigger Trich and I didn’t want to be Trich-focused, I wanted to be Christ-focused while tracking my pulling behaviors.
