What Makes This Day Important to Someone with Trichotillomania?
Whether you call it Easter or Resurrection Sunday is not as important as the event and purpose of the resurrection.
When Jesus died and rose again, it wasn’t just so we could go to heaven. While that is definitely included in the amazing grace package deal, we are gifted so much more than eternal life.
So many of us are looking for a way to stop pulling that our focus on it actually magnifies the problem.
Many of us (myself included) have resulted in willpower.. and TRYING to stop with all our might.
Many of us are really strong and the will power and trying does work for a while but in the long run we end up pulling again and feeling like a total failure because we did.
We end up feeling condemnation, guilt, and shame because we went so long not pulling and ended up binging more as a result.
Will power doesn’t work.
We need (and HAVE) something much stronger than that, and His name is Jesus and what He did on Easter conquered Trich.
At the cross, Jesus took more than just our sins, He took our illness and our diseases on His own body at the cross.
The beating and scourging He took, was for our complete healing in every area. Mind. Body. Soul.
But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.Isaiah 53:5 NLT
Rather than using willpower and trying to overcome Trichotillomania on our own, we should start using the power in the Word of God and proclaiming it over our disorder.
This disorder is NOT greater than what Jesus accomplished at the cross, therefore, it cannot stay with us.
Start claiming what Jesus did. Start speaking what Jesus did over yourself, especially when you have the urge to pull.
Many of us are prone to saying negative words without even realizing it and we need to begin speaking LIFE over ourselves, not death.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.Proverbs 18:21 NASB
Use the Word of God in the situation because as Jesus is right now so are we in this world.
because as he is so also are we in this world.1 John 4:17 ESV
The name of Jesus is powerful. Demons flee at the sound of His name. It is the name of above all names, even Trichotillomania.
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,Philippians 2:9 NIV
Command any infirmity in your body to line up to the Word of God, tell it to be made whole in the Name of Jesus Christ!
You have been given authority in His name! USE IT!
But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!”Acts 3:6 ESV
The more I started to see Jesus and speak Jesus, the more I started to see victory over my hair pulling disorder without “trying” too.
I stopped seeing Trich as my problem to overcome and began recognizing that Jesus already overcame it.
That powerful revelation began solidifying itself in my heart and mind and answers began to manifest for me effortlessly.
I began creating a trichotillomania tracking journal to help me pinpoint areas of weakness while staying focused on Jesus.
Because of Jesus, I am blessed. I am whole. I am graced. I am a co-heir to the greatest inheritance ever given.
NO CONDITION can take down a person who knows their POSITION IN CHRIST!
Because of the life, death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, we have a HOPE and ANSWER to overcoming trichotillomania.
Happy Easter! He has Risen!
