I have been confessing by faith that something was going to give in this battle with Trichotillomania.
I didn’t really know how I can stop myself from pulling my hair out but I knew that I didn’t have to know how either, God would make a way!
And He truly is making a way!!

I had seen an ad in my Facebook newsfeed for a habit tracking device and I made a comment on it about the price.
I certainly didn’t want to pay that kind of money and have it fail, or have me fail.
I was met with some very kind responses on the thread from other customers and I got to talk to the owner, Aneela.
My conversation with her is what solidified the decision for me.
She’s real people like me and I genuinely felt that she had a passion for helping people.
One of the things that she said to me really stuck out, she said, “it’s not a magic bullet.”
So many times people want to sell you something that they don’t really take the time to be real with you, but I found my conversation with her to be just the opposite.
She was honest with me about what it would take for me to really make this thing work and that’s why I bought them.
Once I had made the purchase, I felt it was time for me to start working on a project that has been on my heart for a few months.
I’ve been wrestling with the idea of how can I stop myself from pulling my hair out and I thought perhaps if I could identify contributing factors, I might be able to make some lifestyle changes to help?
I’ve been wanting to create a faith-based Trichotillomania journal because the one I bought on Etsy totally sucked.
I paid $5 for some boxes on a piece of paper, no color, no design, nothing.
It was like the creator opened a word doc and threw some crap on the page.
I tried to use it but it was just awful, not to mention, it’s hard to journal something, you’re not aware is always happening?
BUT…
Ever since I ordered my HabitAware bracelets, I’ve been feeling such hope inside!
I want to be able to #1 be aware of what is going on – and #2 write it down so I can detect patterns that I might be able to change.
That’s why I am going to create a 42-day faith-filled Trichotillomania therapy journal!
This is just a sample of what it will look like, I hope to have it done in a week or two.
I’ve heard it said that it takes 40 days to break a habit and since I didn’t want to end the journal in the middle of a work week, I made it 42-days.
In the bible, “40 days” is mentioned over 140 times and usually in reference to a testing, trial and/or journey like with Noah on the Ark.
I thought 40+ days would be perfect for this journal since it’s going to be filled with lots of God’s Word.
It is God’s will I am healed and whole in every area of my life (3 Jn 1:2) so as I walk this journey by faith, I plan to use these tools to help me along the way.
God’s Word is my weapon of choice and this journal is going to be the thing that holds my sword.
Now that I have these habit detecting bracelets, I can now be made aware of my actions and journal them!
The shipping was super duper fast on my bracelets, but my journal isn’t done yet.
I’m going to calibrate one of the bracelets for one gesture to start, just so I can learn to use it.
I show you which one I started with in my video below.
I can introduce more gestures and the second bracelet to my other hand once I figure out how to use the first one correctly.
I ordered TWO bracelets because I have two very busy hands.
One Keen for the Left Hand
They have those cool little markers so you know which hand is which.
One Keen for the Right Hand!
One marker is for telling you which hand the band is for and the other is extra to make sure it stays snug.
Once the Trich therapy journal is complete, which should be very soon, I can then use the bracelets and my journal together!
Now I won’t have to ask how I can I stop myself from pulling my hair out because Keen will make me aware and I can do something else instead.
Stay tuned!
