3 Benefits of CBD Oil for People Who Experience Hair Pulling Anxiety. Do You Have Trichotillomania? Is It A Coping Mechnism for Anxiety and Stress? You May Want To Read About This Treatment.

I’ve Been Taking CBD Oil For Trichotillomania

I decided awhile ago I wanted to try CBD oil but it took me awhile to find a brand I would take because it matters.

I had been reading so many good things about CBD oil but I was also reading that you have to make sure you get the right kind.

Dozens of studies have found evidence that the compound can treat a variety of mental health related disorders.

I received mine in the mail and I want to keep you all updated on how it’s going. 👇👇

A Couple Things Before I Go On…CBD Oil for Trichotillomania (No, It's Not Weed, It Doesn't Get You High) Here's What I Think After A Week With It!

Because these questions keep getting asked, I’m going to cover this first.

No, It’s Not Street Drugs!

👉 CBD oil does NOT get you high.

There’s nothing about CBD oil that gets you “high” because the THC content is extremely low. The brand I use only has 0.03% THC, it’s not enough to do anything to you.

Cannabis has two species, hemp (male) and marijuana (female). The hemp plant is high CBD, low THC. Marijuana is high THC, low CBD.

The CBD oil that I’m using comes from the hemp plant, it doesn’t get me high, it get’s me healthy!

👉 CBD oil is LEGAL in all 50 states.

I know there has been a lot of misconception about the legality of CBD, but it’s totally legal.

It’s sad when CBD oil is demonized by people like there’s some sort of “reefer madness” going on.

I have anxiety and depression and while, yes, Jesus is the answer to our problems, I also believe that He can use “natural” means to deliver relief.

The mental health stigma is so bad around Christians sometimes that we’re afraid to even say anything and look weak.

CBD is better for my mental health than Prozac or Effexor, I’ve been on both, and trust me, it’s a lot different and BETTER taking CBD.

So if the thought of something derived from Hemp (that is legal in all 50 states) bothers you, this article isn’t for you.

Why CBD for Trichotillomania?

CBD comes up a lot in the support groups I’m in and it’s been on my radar awhile.

CBD has been known to reduce anxiety which is something a lot of us with trichotillomania experience.

I didn’t expect it to take away my trichotillomania but I have high hopes that it can treat areas that affect my hair pulling.

I did some research online and talked to a few friends in the natural health niche and decided to give it a try.

I feel I need help with my anxiety and insomnia because both my anxiety and my insomnia are major triggers for me.

How Much CBD To Take?

After being in the CBD circles for awhile, I’ve got this really great document here to share.

Start low and slow, what I take isn’t going to be what you take.

Start off with a couple drops under your tongue, 2 or 3 max and see how you feel.

👉 With this brand I take, you want to start with a low dosage to give your body time to adjust.

Taking CBD Oil

I purchased the 500mg dosage.

There’s a 750 mg dosage too, but since I’m starting out, I went with the lower amount.

The CBD drops come in a tincture and they are placed under the tongue and swallowed.

  • Leave it under your tongue for 2-3 minutes.
  • There are a lot of veins under the tongue so it will absorb faster into your bloodstream using this method.

CBD Oil for Trichotillomania? Does It Help Reduce Hair Pulling Anxiety?

The first day I took way to much because I wan’t watching what I was doing!

It’s super easy to take too much.🤷 oops.

My suggestion to you is take your drops in the mirror so you can count them.

Counting them out on a spoon works if you don’t have a mirror.

My CBD Dosage for Hair Pulling Anxiety

I had to keep tweaking my dosage at first to get to my sweet spot and so will you.

I take the 500 mg tincture and I use anywhere from 5  drops x 3 times a day = 😀

In the morning I start out with 5 drops (I do this right when I wake up)

In the afternoon I will do another 5 drops

In the evening I will do another 5-7 drops (I do this around 7 or 8pm, a few extra drops to keep me asleep)

It really just depends on my mood.

One bottle contains 1,000 drops, it lasts awhile because the brand is very potent.

Your body is going to tell you what is right for you.

I’m not a doctor, I’m a blogger but I think the information helps if you’re going to try CBD for hair pulling anxiety.

What Does CBD Oil Feel Like?

Legit question since it doesn’t get you high, what does it feel like, right?

It feels like…

The absence of anxiousness
The absence of stress
The absence of nerves
The absence of irritability
The absence of sleeplessness
The absence of restlessness
The absence of fogginess
The absence of pain
The absence of blah

There is no real identifiable point that things happen with CBD, there is just the “absense of” after you take it.

You realize at some point you slept better, weren’t stressed and didn’t panic in a crowd. You realize you didn’t fidget, toss, turn and all your thoughts came out more clear and focused.

It’s kinda hard to explain but it’s as though a “chill” has come over me.

I talk more about this in the “pros” listed below.

How Long Does CBD Oil Take To Work?

It works pretty fast, I would say within 10-15 minutes.

Right after you’re done gagging over the awful taste of it, you start to feel like your anxiety is leaving you.

There are peppermint oils, but peppermint is a natural stimulant and it’s not good for people with high anxiety like myself.

Pros:

👉 Reduces Anxiety

This was probably the most definitive effect from the CBD oil.

My chill factor went from 0 to 10 pretty quick after taking it, especially the first day, whoa.

👉 Makes Me Feel Happy 😀

The best part about the CBD is with the anxiety factor being gone, I actually feel happy.

I feel like a normal mom should feel.

I still have to deal with the realities of life but they seem better in light of the anxiety being gone.

👉 Helps Me Sleep

This alone would make me buy the CBD oil over and over again. 🙌

I sleep like a freaking rock and I’ve been able to get off melatonin as a result.

I still wake up to pee, but not as much and I easily go back to sleep.

My sleep has been a battle for years!

Exhaustion has always made my hair pulling and my anxiety so much worse.

I’ve reduced sugar intake and done things to get my sleep better and although it would help, I was still a crappy sleeper.

Unless you have had battled insomnia first hand, it’s hard to explain it but I’ve waited years to sleep like this.

CBD for the win! 🌿🙌🏆

Cons:

Tastes Like I Licked A Tree 😫🌲

It really tastes like I licked a plant after I take CBD.

There are other flavors available than the one I purchased, cinnamon and peppermint.

Trust me, the feeling it gives you will outweigh the taste! 🤗

Dry Mouth

Dry mouth instantly kicks in the second I taste the CBD oil.

It does go away after a day or two, no worries, just drink some water.

Loss Of Appetite

There’s definitely no “munchies” with this stuff.

I experience a loss of appetite when I take it, it’s not that I can’t eat, I just don’t desire food.

I think I’ve lost a little weight. Not a terrible thing for me.

Overall I Love It!

My anxiety is lower.

I sleep better.

I’m happier.

CBD helps a lot with my trichotillomania triggers which results in less pulling.

I still take NAC and that helps me a lot with the urges and CBD helps me with the triggers and together I feel like they are a real power house in my trich toolbox.

What About Side Effects?

Unlike medications that the doctor is going to give you, CBD oil has zero side effects if you buy a good brand.

Make sure you’re purchasing an organic CBD oil that is made from the whole hemp plant without any fillers or additives.

Take note of what else you’re putting in your body by writing things down in a trichotillomania therapy journal.

What About CBD Side Effects?

What side effects?  There are none.

CBD oil doesn’t have any negative side effects unlike prescriptions.

I’m not high, I’m healthy.

I’m not tired.

I’m not loopy.

I’m just damn happy. 🌿😀💖

What To Pair With CBD

Lots of Water 💧💧

You’ve got to drink a lot of water when taking CBD Oil because it helps support the natural detoxification process.

There’s really not a whole lot that I have to pair with the CBD oil other than drinking a lot of water.

Buying CBD Oil

There’s so many places that claim to have CBD oil but you have to be careful you don’t purchase bunk oil.

Look for CBD that is organic, non-gmo, third-party tested for purity.

Anything with fillers can cause unwanted side effects and even more anxiousness.

Especially if it’s got sugar or sugar substitutes, that stuff is bad for trich.

You don’t want a TON of fillers! Gross! 🤢🤮

This isn’t one of those oils you can just get on Amazon unfortunately, you have to do a little more research and find a good source.

I bought mine from a reputable brand that is providing FULL-SPECTRUM pure CBD oil.

Do your homework on this because it does matter.

There shouldn’t be more than 2-3 ingredients in your CBD!

What the the ingredients in CBD oil?

When purchasing CBD, get one without flavoring!

There are flavored CBD oils, some with peppermint, but peppermint is a natural stimulant and it can make anxiety worse.

👉 Go with a brand that will take it back if you don’t like it!

The brand I purchased offered a 30-day money back guarantee – win/win.

CBD Oil Has Helped Me So Much!

I feel like a fog has been lifted and I’m really liking it.

The sleep is incredible now, I would have bought it for that reason alone.

The fact that it takes away my anxiousness and makes me more relaxed and happy is a HUGE bonus.

It’s not super cheap but it isn’t outrageously expensive either – I paid $69 for the 500 mg bottle and it’s been totally worth the relief.
